ok, so I am still stuck with the blog thing... I am going to have a lot to post once I get it going again. Anyway, just so you know I am not quitting... I am just stuck and haven't had the time to deal with it. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a wonderful 2010!!

The Bat is Out!

Did I ever tell you... they used to call me the bat around here? we do have this crazy upside down life, but that's not why... I love to garden at night, I take my light and go : ) tonight though it was more of a relaxing thing, I picked some pears and veggies and just relaxed and enjoyed the fall coolness I love so much. Took these pictures too.
Look at all these Japanese pears ( I've always called them oriental pears but my neighbor just told me tonight they are Japanese Pears ) They look like apples and taste like pears, they are very crunchy and juicy.

Ed turned 50 on the 13th...
We had a surprise birthday dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory a couple of days before with his Dad and brothers and sisters. It was so fun to get together and to celebrate Ed's birthday. On his actual birthday we also had a little surprise celebration at the house with some family and friends.

This Labor Day weekend, we spent it in Marysvale and it's surroundings. It was the Keigley family with cousin Wade and us. We camped on our property in Marysvale, the one that has the cabin that can't wait to be done : ) From there, we went to Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef and had very good weekend.

There was a lot of deer eating the apples from the many trees in the area.

Going to Oregon

On August 13th we left for Oregon to see our family there...
We took my Dad with us, and we got to visit our two nephews and their families, it was a great week!!
... a little stormy for a while, we got out of the car to strech our legs and take a couple of pictures by the Columbia River, when we were getting somewhat close to Portland, our first stop.

We visited the Beautiful Portland Temple on our way to Oakland. It's so pretty how is surrounded by so much green.

We had lunch at this really good "Mexican Restaurant" and I am trying to remember the name... Si Casa Flores, I think? The food was wonderful and the time together even better.

We had so much fun with both families, spending time together, seeing beautiful places, singing, playing and having a wonderful time. Thank you so much for everything, the yummy food, the time you gave to us and mostly for all the love, it's funny how we spend a couple of days together, we start driving away and miss you already...we love you tons!!

Pam and Gary, our niece and new nephew were married on August 8th in the Timpanogos Temple. It was a great day, and we are so glad we could spend it with them.

This was our tree yesterday, a neighbor came to the door to tell us part of our tree was on the ground... there was a lot of wind. Some other neighbors came to help and noticed the trunk had a crack right on the middle, so it was a matter of time.
We had another knock on the door today and our neighbor Jay had just seen the tree go down... crazy wind!

Pam's Shower

Last Friday, July 24th we had Pam's Shower... we had lunch, some fun games and then gift time. Pam had a clock shower so it was really fun to see what everyone thought of getting her for the times they got.

I wish we would have taken a group picture earlier, to get everyone... since some of them had to leave early. We had so many of the family there... it was great!!

After the graduation, we went to Tam's place and had empanadas, salad, fruit and other yummies to keep celebrating with family and friends, what a fun day.

Mom's Funeral

On April 13th, we had mom's services.
She didn't want a viewing so instead we had a family and friends gathering, to celebrate her life.
We arranged on tables things that reminded us of her, things she loved doing and were important to her, like sewing, gardening and cooking, we also had many pictures of moments of her life... with her family. It really was a celebration of her life. We are so blessed to be called her family!

A day full of LOVE

On March 26th our family got together at our place, to see mom and celebrate her birthday early, we are so glad we did... she passed away 13 days later on April 8th. My brother Fernando passed away almost 18 years ago, his wife Ximena and their three children live in Chile and Italy, so they weren't able to be with us that day, just the part of the family that lives in the U.S.
My sister Ana Maria and her husband live about 3 hours from here and their girls live pretty close to us, so they were here often to visit mom and dad, but their two boys and their families live in Oregon so it wasn't as easy, but after hearing that Nani (how they have always called Mom) was not getting better, and we didn't know how much longer we would have her with us, they decided to come see her, they weren't sure they would be able to come to the funeral if it was to be soon, but they wanted to see her and hug her while she was still with us. What an incredible day that was... the love was so strong in this house, it will be one of those days I will never forget. Mom and Dad were so happy to have their loved ones around. We visited and hugged and cried together, we played, ate yummy food and laughed, it was fun to just spend the day together. We have a lot of talent in the family and there was songs sang to Mom and Dad, some that were written for her, and for them... it was beautiful. I did not want the day to end... what a great memory!

...of course we had all kinds of yummy food. A lot of salad, avocados and shrimp, steak, chicken, rolls... and of course "torta de manjar" (chilean cake) ohhh and lots of pebre, or peure or whatever some of the different family members choose to call it, it's the salsa made out of cilantro and green onions we like to put on everything, uh Cassidy? : ) ... I call mine Peure.
